Fun to enjoy at home even on rainy days
There are plenty of games that children can enjoy at home and never get bored of. Here we will introduce them in three categories: creative games, physical games, and educational games.
Have fun with creative play
Creative play can stimulate children's imagination and foster creativity.
There are plenty of fun things for children to do using things you have at home.
・Let's make a Teru Teru Bozu

The materials are tissue, rubber bands, pens, and string.
Wrap the rolled tissue in more tissue and tie it with a rubber band. Draw a face on it, then thread a string through the rubber band to hang it up. It's complete!
Instead of tissue, you can also make them using scraps of old clothes.
・Play with flour clay

Playing with clay is a way to develop dexterity while also expressing creativity. By using clay to create shapes and objects of your choice, you can experience a sense of concentration and accomplishment.
Since it's a rainy day, why not try using flour clay instead of the usual paper clay or oil clay?
As the name suggests, flour clay is made from only flour, water, and salt. You can easily make colorful clay by simply mixing in a small amount of your favorite paint.
Ingredients (for 1 person)
- Flour: 100g
- Water: 50cc
- Salt: a little (uses as a preservative)
- salad oil: a little
- A little food coloring (you can also use green juice powder or paint that is safe to lick)
*The hardness of the clay changes depending on the season and room temperature, so adjust the amount of water accordingly.

Colorful clay is fun to look at, and after you've made lots of things you like, it's fun to display them.
Move your body and play
Physical activity helps children relieve stress and promotes healthy growth.
There are many games that use tools such as balls, but this time we will introduce a charades game that can be enjoyed without any tools.
Gesture games are games in which children express their ideas using only gestures without speaking. This allows children to fully utilize their imaginations when asking and answering questions.
It's a good idea to choose topics that are appropriate for the child's age, such as popular characters, animals, or occupations.
When an adult is asking the questions, children will be happy if you move your body in an exaggerated way. It will be even more fun if you set a time limit and have them compete.
Have fun learning with educational play
There are many educational games that children can enjoy even on rainy days. By incorporating elements of learning into play, children's knowledge and skills can be naturally developed. Here are some ideas for such educational games.
・Brain training with puzzles and board games
Puzzles and board games are great ways to develop children's problem-solving skills and logical thinking. When parents and children play together, communication naturally emerges, and they can feel a sense of accomplishment by working together to complete the puzzle. Learning the rules is fun, and children can exercise their brains by thinking and acting on their own.
・Turn your home into a classroom with educational apps

With educational apps for tablets and smartphones, you can quickly turn your home into a fun learning space, even on rainy days. The appeal of educational apps is that they allow you to learn letters, numbers, and science knowledge in a fun, game-like way. Many of them include animations and music, which makes it easy to attract children's attention and keep them absorbed in the app.
・A voice changer made from a paper cup

A voice changer that lets you hear a different voice than usual sounds like a robot, and sounds really fun. You can actually make one easily using things you have at home.
Materials/tools (for 1 piece)
- 2 paper cups
- aluminum foil
- drawing paper
- scotch tape
- cutter

First, cut out the bottom of both paper cups with a cutter.
Place aluminum foil over the top of one of the paper cups and secure it with cellophane tape.
Place the other paper cup on top and you're done!
If you speak through the hole in the bottom of the paper cup, you will hear a different voice than usual. It would also be cute to decorate the outside of the paper cup with crayons or stickers.
